3D Printing Comes to Museum

We are delighted to announce the addition of a 3D Printer to our range of forward looking exhibits in the museum.

DaVinci 3D PrinterAs well as the virtual reality system 'Oculus Rift' on display and useable, the new 3D Printer will be on display and printing 3D models available to buy in our shop!

Visitors will be able to watch the machine in action to gain a greater understanding of how 3D Printing works and what can be achieved with it.

Despite the centre's role as a museum with historically important exhibits on display, we also look to the future. Technology continues to change rapidly and 3D Printers are just one of the latest developments that we're pleased to have on display at the museum.

The XYZ DaVinci 3D Printer has been donated by Mega Electronics who are suppliers of 3D Printers for schools and educational institutions.

The DaVinci 3D Printer worked straight out of the box! After connecting the USB cable to the computer and installing the software, we were very soon printing 3D Space Invader characters and even a cartridge case for our Vectrex game console!

3D Printed Space InvadersThe printer is fully enclosed making it the ideal 3D printer to have on display at the museum. Many have open sides and the hot printing head can easily be touched by small hands. Mega Electronics advised on the choice of printer and even fitted a lock to the front door to stop unauthorised access whilst in use.

We'd like to thank Mega Electronics for their very generous donation and continued support of the museum.
