Back to BASIC - Thursday 28th July 2022
Description : Learn to code like it's 1981! Join us for an introduction to programming that is suitable for anyone! We're going to learn the most basic steps that will give you an insight into the world of computer programming. We'll be using BBC BASIC on original BBC Micro computers (that were developed in Cambridge!). These were THE educational computers of choice and used in schools across the country throughout the 80s. You might ask "is BBC BASIC still used today?" and the answer would be a resounding no! BUT if you can understand the simple programs we create in this fun workshop you'll be able to apply your newfound knowledge to modern languages like Python! This workshop is aimed at anyone, but we recommend that children are above the age of 10 as there is a good amount of typing to do which has to be done accurately. The fee is £14 per participant in this workshop. For participants under the age of 14, we require an accompanying adult to attend the workshop alongside them. Accompanying adult tickets can be purchased for the normal museum entry price of £10. Though the workshop is a timed event, your tickets enable you to explore the museum for the whole day! Date: Thursday 28th July 2022 This workshop will start at 11am promptly, so please arrive at least 15 minutes early.
Spaces for these exciting hands-on events are limited, so booking is required to ensure your place. Payment is taken by PayPal immediately. Please print a copy of the receipt that is displayed at the end of the payment process and bring it with you as your e-ticket. Remember - All proceeds go to support our Computing Museum! |
