61854 View through the LEO I racks (1950)

Description of Photograph

Digital copy of a photograph of the view down the central aisle between the racks (towards what would be the location of the Engineering Console) of the LEO I 'calculator room' at Cadby Hall, early in the installation phase.

Caption:  'Computer & Co-Ordinator Racks'

This image appears in the interactive plan for our Virtual LEO I installation, p62.

Research comments: This is an early photograph of LEO I, before the engineers' console is built. Not all the valve racks are full or even built. Note the sheets of paper, presumably plans and diagrams, that  are suspended from the racks; this is a machine very much under construction. Also note the small room to the left of the photograph. This was likely the engineers' room. (LM)
