61020 Close-up of board on the Rank prototype xerographic printer

Description of Photograph

Photograph of engineer's hands [probably Bill Dunlop] holding a board from the early experimental model of the Xeronic Printer later used on LEO III. According to the printed caption on the reverse, probably text from a trade brochure, 'Test sentences such as “Now is the time for all good men to come to the aid of the party” are widely used, but there is a test sentence with a difference. On this board is a sentence devised by the electronics expert to put the machine through its paces'.
