Photograph of part of the overall flowchart for teashop payroll perpared in December 1958. Peter Bird notes (in his published caption):

Because of its complexity, the teashops payroll was one of the last to be computerised. Two calculations were made for each person, one using Catering Wage Act rates and one for J. Lyons rates. The greater was paid. The running costs were calculated at 7.2 pence per person.
