Capture The Flag: Cybersecurity Workshop - Friday 30th August 2019
Description : "What’s a Capture the Flag?"
In technology and computing, a Capture the Flag event is where individuals (often teams) compete to hack into a device, website or network the quickest and recover a series of secret ‘flags’. Flags usually take the form of a short password or phrase and can be hidden anywhere. Flags are entered into a central scoreboard to track everyone’s progress – whoever captures them all the fastest wins.
What’s the challenge?
Darkbook is a small social network set up by a group of friends. The community has grown a bit recently and the admin team are worried they may soon become a target for hackers looking to steal user data and snoop on private messages. They’ve asked you to perform a pentest on the site – expose any vulnerabilities so the security team can fix them before a real attack can occur. If you get stuck, hints are available on the scoreboard and if you get really stuck, just give one of the team a shout.
