Adobe PageMaker is professional page layout software, or professional publishing program or more commonly a Desktop Publishing (DTP) software. Adobe PageMaker 6.0 was released in 1995, a year after Adobe Systems acquired Aldus Corporation Initially, Aldus PageMaker, later Adobe PageMaker, is a desktop publishing program for Mac and Windows. First released in 1985, PageMaker was the first desktop publishing program for the Macintosh. The combination of the Macintosh's graphical user interface, PageMaker publishing software, and the Apple LaserWriter laser printer marked the beginning of the desktop publishing revolution. The following were new in Adobe PageMaker 6.0: Versatile Color Publishing using the Kodak Precision Color Management System (CMS); Flexible Page Design; Expert Printing and Prepress; Compatibility for Prepress Standards with import and export filters and Photoshop Effects plug-in; Online Publishing using Adobe Acrobat Portable Document Format (PDF) and Hypertext Markup Language (HTML). After 7 versions and a sell-out to Adobe, PageMaker met its end at version 7.0 which would not have native support for Mac OS X and does not run properly on Windows Vista or beyond. It was replaced by a new product, Adobe InDesign. This version is accelerated for Power Macintosh
