Comic Books & Video Games - Saturday 8th July 2017
Description : This is a special one off event and a must for all comic book and video game enthusiasts! We're going to be delving into an exciting world where two of the most geeky mediums collide. You'll get to play a whole bunch of comic book inspired video games. We'll have everything from Superman on the Atari 2600, Dick Tracy on the Sega Master System all the way up to the likes of Alien Isolation on the PS4. There will be a fully licensed bar courtesy of Lord Conrad's Brewery and 400 Degrees Pop Up Pizzeria will also be serving freshly made pizza from 7pm! We're also very lucky to have Jason Wilson coming along to do a talk at 6pm. Jason has 30 years’ worth of experience, and began his career in the burgeoning 1980’s games industry at a young age and has worked in key roles on fondly remembered BAFTA winning titles such as SONY’s MediEvil series and many cult home arcade games including Pacmania and Space Harrier 2. Jason’s science fiction graphic novel series Surface Tension was recently released by Titan Comics under his pseudonym Jay Gunn. Jason is currently working on a new semi-autobiographical graphic novel Coal Face. A fantasy story about a young boy that dreams of becoming a video game designer during the 1984 miners’ strike. Jason’s love of comic books and video games shines through in his work and he will be discussing how the two mediums influence one another and how to get the best out of both. Our resident Games Master, Ian Guebert, will also be doing a comic book themed tournament in the evening. 10am till Late Under 5's are free.
