This manual provides information on the Data Entry System used on computers shared jointly by the University of Newcastle upon Tyne and Durham University in the mid-1980s.  NUMAC stands for Northumbrian Universities Multiple Access Computer.

'The NUMAC Data Entry System is used to prepare work for processing on the main NUMAC operating system, which is the Michigan Terminal System (MTS) running on an IBM 370 Model 168 Computer and also on an IBM 4341 Model-1 computer.

This document is a complete guide to using the Data Entry System.  The text leads the reader through using the system in the same order that a normal session would take: connection, editing, and submission of a job.'

The document provides technical insight into computing standards at both universities in the mid-1980s.
