BlackBerry Pearl 8120 Smartphone

The BlackBerry Pearl was the first BlackBerry smartphone to feature a camera and media player. Unlike their earlier phones, the Pearl was marketed towards consumers as well as business users. The 'pearl' refers to the trackball input which replaces the usual cursor keys.

The camera is a 1.33 megapixel with flash, self-portrait mirror, and has a 5 x digital zoom, the media player supports MP3, AAC/M4A, AMR, WMA, MIDI and WAV sound formats , for video there is support for MPEG-4, Xvid, DivX and H.263 formats.

It has USB support, and the usual features of a Blackberry such as an address book, calendar, GPS with Blackberry maps, email, voice dialling, an HTML web browser, text messaging and Bluetooth 2.0, it can also take up to a 16GB Micro SD card.

The advertising campaign used stars like Mariska Hargitay, star of the long running series Law and Order: Special Victims unit.

The Pearl was released on September 12th 2006 and was discontinued in 2010.
