Random AKA Mega Ran (Live Music) - 13th June 2015
Description : An evening of live nerdcore all the way from the USA with the ONLY rapper to be licensed by CAPCOM! This is an event not to be missed! We are really pleased to welcome back Mega Ran after his amazing gig here at the museum last year. Mega Ran (aka Random) put on a great show and really involved the audience. If you love video games and hip hop, you'll love Mega Ran ... Don't miss this! WHO IS MEGA RAN? “One of the most prolific and innovative rappers of the 21st Century,” -Phoenix New Times. “Random’s proven he can excel in storytelling, punchlines, poignancy, freestyling and, pretty much any other way you can measure an MC.”– LAWeekly When LA Weekly named Random aka Mega Ran one of “Five Artists Who Will Be Big in 2014,” Ran instantly took a photo of the article and made it his default picture on Facebook and Twitter. “It wasn't to brag,” he said, “It was to keep the pressure on myself... I wanted to see it every day.” Pressure is no new thing for a man who spent his days teaching middle school, his evenings grading papers, and his late nights rocking stages. In the past 5 years, Ran has managed to run through barriers like Mario with an invincibility star, from placing music in TV and video games to touring with acclaimed hip-hop stars to playing thousand-person festivals. “I'm on a mission to help bring hip-hop into a new frontier,” he says. With two Billboard 200-charting albums, an unprecedented licensing agreement with gaming giant CAPCOM, and constant appearances on a variety of sites like VICE, Nerdist, The Verge, The Source and Game Informer under his utility belt, the mission is fully underway. Mega Ran will also be supported by Bag of Tricks Cat There aren't too many cats in the Hip-Hop community that have as many tricks in the bag as Felix. His grandma, Ann Bennett, sang the 1959 "Felix The Cat" theme song, so it was only appropriate to name himself after the iconic cartoon character. Bag Of Tricks Cat has been building a buzz behind his brand since 2012 by releasing various projects, singles and collaborations, as well as performing in and outside of Arizona. Not only does he make music, Felix is also an audio engineer, radio DJ for WOW 99.1 FM and show promoter for Respect The Underground. He is currently working on his next album and is gearing up to release new music in the upcoming months.
