'Unique' are well known for their range of wood slide rules with celluloid covered paper scales, which, in spite of their cheapness, have survived in large numbers. The firm was founded by Burns Snodgrass in Brighton in 1920 and continued to manufacture slide rules until 1975. Burns Snodgrass was also the author of "Teach Yourself the Slide Rule".

'Unique' was one of the largest makers of slide rules in the UK. They tended to produce similar rules for a long periods so it is sometimes difficult to date them.

The rule has 7 scales; 2 log log, A and D on the stock; B, C and CI on the slide.

The rule is celluloid on wood. The cursor is plastic with aluminium end plates.
