The Apricot PC was developed by ACT (Applied Computer Techniques) following the success of the Sirius 1 computer, which was developed by Sirius in the US and distributed by ACT in the UK.

The ACT Apricot was a PC type desktop computer, based on the 8086 microprocessor, which ran at 4.77MHz. It came with 256K RAM, which could be upgraded to 768K and 32K ROM. It featured twin, built-in, Sony 3.5-inch disc drives, making it one of the first computers to feature a 3.5-inch disc drive outside of Japan. It ran CP/M-86 and MS-DOS 2 operating systems.
