The Amstrad PC2286/40 had a 12.5MHz 80286 16-bit processor, 1MB of RAM, 64KB of Cache and a 40MB hard disk.

The VGA adaptor supported MDA, CGA, Hercules, EGA, MCGA and EVGA modes. It had a serial a parallel port, a 5.25-inch disk drive and a mouse port. It could run the following operating systems: MS-DOS 4.01/Microsoft Windows and Microsoft GW-BASIC. 

The Amstrad PC2286 was launched 1989.It was part of the 2000 series launched as a professional follow on to the PC1512/1640.
The 2000 series consisted of three models: 2086 (8086), 2286 (80286) and 2386 (80386DX). The series used a plastic case with a bit more styling and shaping than the rather rectangular form of it’s predecessors. The battery backed CMOS continued to be supported by 4 AA batteries under the monitor.
The 2286 came with 3.5" floppy drives as standard, a first for Amstrad with a side port enabling an external 5¼" disk drive to be connected for backwards compatibility. The package contained one of a range of monitors. Screen were 12" and 14" in VGA monochrome and colour.
