Fundraising campaign is GO!

On Friday 18th May Alex Meyer MEP launched our new fundraising campaign for museum learning.

We are looking forcompanies who can help us continue to deliver and expand our successful museum learning programme.

As one of the most imaginative and ambitious museum projects in Britain, we are dedicated to creating within the museum an educational space for children that is engaging, instructive and, most importantly, capable of getting school children excited about tech.

Last year, Anjali Das, our Heading of Learning, and her team piloted a range of new learning activities for visiting groups of students and a new structure for visits by schools and colleges that prioritises the quality of the experience for young people. Take-up and feedback was very positive, and the visits were cited by schools as a fantastic experience that really enhanced young people’s understanding of computing.

We are now seeking companies who can help us continue to deliver and expand our museum learning programme. With funding of at least £30,000 over 3 years we will be able to:

Continue to offer a high quality learning experience for education group visits to the Centre, involving a high staff:student ratio;
Keep our work relevant to schools by offering aspects of the curriculum, such as physical computing and computing heritage, that schools are often less able to deliver themselves.
Develop our educational activities to ensure that the work we do stimulates the interest of a diverse range of young people, challenging traditional role models and signposting opportunities for all.
Connect our young visitors’ perceptions of computing with wider STEM objectives by broadening the range of workshops we offer.

Dr Anjali Das, Head of Learning at CCH has said; "We are committed to developing a strong, varied and purposeful experience for the thousands of young people that visit the Centre each year. Historical exploration complemented by real, hands-on and creative activities show young people how they might be on a path to writing the next chapters in the history of computing.”
