Volunteer Archivist Urgently Needed
Are you looking for a fun, engaging project that will give you great satisfaction? Are you willing to play an important role in a programme that will provide a vital service to the wider community? Then we’re looking for you. We’re a small team with a big job to do, so we need your help to keep the Centre for Computing History moving forward!
At this moment, we desperately need a librarian / archivist for the centre’s growing collection.
We have thousands of documents, magazines, books, DVD, tapes, microfiche, software and discs that need to be catalogued and entered on to computer, which in turn will automatically update our website. We believe the centre’s website is one of the largest of its type on the internet and it already enjoys an international reputation as a first class research source. Yet there is so much more to do!
We have facilities here at the museum which is open 9am to 5pm weekdays, or anyone with a computer, a scanner and an internet connection could work from home. An understanding of computing would be a huge advantage but is not essential. We have an exciting year ahead. As the centre’s profile gathers momentum and we develop educational and community programmes, it’s crucial that we find dedicated volunteers to grab hold of these projects and carry them through to success. Centre volunteers are needed in many areas to provide meaningful and valuable services as well as to contribute ideas to the centre. Anyone interested should ring the centre on 01440 709794 and speak to the Centre Curator Be part of our story...
