The story of the information age, open now in Cambridge

Established as an educational charity to tell the story of the Information Age, the Cambridge computer museum presents a collection of important computers and related artifacts.

Exhibitions spotlight the people behind the inventions and the stories to inspire and enthuse future generations.

The Cambridge Centre for Computing History is the only museum dedicated to the social and historical impact of computers in Europe.

The history of the computing industry is a fascinating subject. In a short space of time, it has created the world's wealthiest man, witnessed some of the worst business decisions on record and generated the largest first year profits for any company in modern history!

The people, the inventions and the machines that have played key roles in this on-going and influential story are all here.

What we do

For the past seven years, we've been moving forward to create a permanant base for the history and build up to the technology we use daily today.

More significantly however, is that there is a generation now growing up without much knowledge of the dawn of the Information Age. We're here to help tell that story, and let them experience it firsthand, as well as provide a first step into learning about computing and programming.

Teaching the next generation, and even generations been is very important to us. Whether it's a school visiting us or us visiting you, to someone whose just interested, we love sitting down and just teaching and telling people about these machines. We teach kids the basics of BBC Basic with our BBC Micro's and intro to Python and the Raspberry Pi.

Be a Part of our Story

As a registered Charity, a big part of what we've achieved is because of donors and sponsorships. But it hasn't ended yet. We rely on our generous donors to keep us open, and to help us to keep expanding our display space to make sure it's as complete and educational as possible.

You can help too, whether it's an old computer sitting in the loft or something financial. We need your help, and with it we aim to make our museum as good as possible. If you have an old piece of tech you want to donate, head to the donations page. If you want to donate us some money, you can securely donate using the buttons below.
