Fred is a maze arcade adventure, where our archaeologist must enter the tombs of the dead in search of treasure, and then use a series of climbing ropes to try and reach the surface and escape.

There is acid dripping from the ceilings, rats scurrying along the ledges, and ghosts walking through walls.

A pistol can be fired at the ghosts, which sends them back the other way, and any contact with bad things reduces the players energy.

The game also appeared on C64 and Amstrad, though the latter was renamed Roland on the Ropes, to join that series of games.
