To use Using the Information/Family Licensed Programs, you should understand
how to use applications on your operating system (MVS or VM/SP). You do not
have to know anything about the Information/Family programs.
The first part of this book presents a series of exercises that teach you some
specific tasks the Information/Family programs can help you perform. If you are a
beginning user, you should do these exercises first. Before you can begin the
exercises, the data base you wili use must contain a set of training records that
have been created by your system administrator.
After you finish the exercises, you should be ready to use other books in the
Information/Family library that apply more directly to the programs you use and
the tasks you perform every day. You might also have a run book that shows you
how certain tasks are performed in your organization.
If you are a system administrator, you should read all of this book before you
perform any tasks associated with the administration of Information/Family
programs and data bases. You must create the training records as shown in
Chapter 14 before beginning users can workwith the exercises in the first part of
the book.
