Microscribe is a division of Camdata Limited, which bought the Microscribe rights from Micro Terminals Limited in 2003. Microscribe was formed in the early 1980s and has shipped over 35000 handheld devices to a wide variety of industries and organisations around the world. The product has evolved from being a dumb VT terminal via a 486 DOS unit to a Windows CE .NET computer.

The Microscribe range is known for its ruggedness being both water-protected to IP65 and droppable onto concrete. Variants have NATO stock codes and have been used in many military projects.
