A file of assorted documents collected by Ray Shaw, former employee at ICL. The file is comprised of:

  1. A printed booklet written by Johnathan Penley and Dr Bill Penley CB CBE, telling the story of top secret radar development in Purbeck from 1940 to 1942, which was integral to the defense of Britain during the Second World War. Includes a picture of John Pinkerton for his work on developing test equipment for aerials
  2. An original invitation from J. Lyons & Company Ltd 'To celebrate the successful demonstration of clerical work performed by the calculator of LEO', dated 16 May 1951. Includes signatures of everyone present on the night on the back of the invitation
  3. Summary of a talk by John Pinkerton about LEO, to the Computer Conservation Society, dated 24 May 1990
  4. An order of service and funeral invitation for John Pinkerton [Also includes a letter of thanks from Helen Pinkerton to Mr. and Mrs. Shaw - CLOSED DUE TO DATA PROTECTION]
  5. A dinner invitation from J. Lyons & Company Ltd, dated 27 May 1954
  6. A dinner invitation 'GIVEN TO  J. R. M. Simmons, Esq. by the managers of the Clerical Department on his Appointment to the Board of J. Lyons & Company Limited', dated 9 March 1951. Includes a toast to the King
  7. Two letters from ICL Majority Club to Ray Shaw congratulating him on his membership to the club
  8. A handwritten copy of a cover letter from Ray Shaw to Peter Bird and autobiographic details of Ray Shaw's involvement with LEO
  9. Photocopied pages of 'The Pilot Model of the A.C.E' by E. A. Newman
  10. A Photocopied transcript of 'THE MANCHESTER UNIVERSITY DIGITAL COMPUTING MACHINE' talk by Tom Kilburn, given on 25 June 1949 in Cambridge
  11. A typescript copy of ' A gentle introduction to 1940's electronics' by Anthony E Sale
  12. Two handmade cards wishing Ray Shaw well on leaving ICL [Also includes a photograph of Ray Shaw and his wife]
  13. A letter from Mike Nalley[?] to Ray Shaw expressing his apologies for being unable to attend Ray's leaving party
  14. A large leaving card for Ray Shaw signed by all his colleagues.
