74311 A Kimball Tag

A Kimball tag from 'Richard Shops, Such Clever Clothes! £6 6d'. A Kimball tag is an older type of cardboard tag used in retail, particularly in the clothing industry, for inventory tracking and price marking. They were a precursor to barcodes, using a system of punched holes to represent data, which was then read by machines. Kimball tags were processed in batches at the end of the day, and the A. Kimball Company originally developed the technology, as well as the machines used to mark and punch the tags.
