ATM Ltd / Virata Corporation were a relativly short-lived Cambridge start-up from the 1990s which was first to market with ADSL broadband modem processors with a hugely-successful NASDAQ IPO in 2000.  Founders included Herman Hauser, Andy Hopper, Olivetti and staff such as Chris Turner. Charles Cotton was CEO up to and beyond the IPO.  Post IPO the company merged with Globespan in the USA which was then acquired by Rockwell / Connexant.

Among the products produced was a first-generation BT broadband hub, known as the BT Voyager 2000 Wireless ADSL Router, containing Virata's world-beating (literally) Helium processor chip.
