Collection of sensors designed to be connected to a computer with speciallised software for reading their values and graphing. Designed for school use. Says it requires a PP3 alkaline battery in rear battery compartment to use, though there is a DC port on the side.

The "LIVE Basic Pack" includes:

  • LIVE interface
  • Temperature sensor
  • Light sensor
  • PC / Arc link cable
  • Plasic storage carry case

There is also a 5.25" floppy disk labelled "Sensor", possibly containing a copy of the software for a compatible system.

The software it connects to is available for:

  • Insight (Arc + Windows)
  • Juniour Insight (Arc + Mac + Windows)
  • Archimedies LIVE Link (Arc)
  • RM Investigate (Windows)
  • BBC LIVE Link (BBC/Master)
  • Palmtop LIVE Link (Psion 3/Pkt Book)

Seperately sold and not included are:

  • "LIVE accessory pack" - containing a sound level sensor, temperature sensor, 2 light switches for timing, a sensor extension lead and a Control LED.
  • Teching materials - "IT in Primary Science", "IT in Secondary Science", "Datalogging & Control", "Datalogging at Key 4"
  • "Live display & control" - a clip-on display that shows sensor outpuse and has 10 controls.

The basic pack was ordered through the Tesco Computers for Schools office.

Physical Description : BBC Link cable in bag, labelled: "LIVE system; BBC-Live link cable for software pack; DCP Microdevelopments Limited Designed & Made in Great Britain." LIVE interface, grey box with battery compartment, labelled LIVE with an arrow pointing to the side labelled "COMPUTER". That side has the DC port and an RS423 port. Long Male to Female RS423 cable. Temperature sensor, with a connector for the LIVE interface on one end of the cable and a small metallic rounded end. Light sensor device with no cable and just directly connectable to the LIVE interface.
