The iPad Mini is a line of small tablet computers developed and marketed by Apple Inc. It is a sub-series of the iPad line of tablets, with screen sizes of 7.9 inches known retrospectively as the iPad Mini1. The iPad mini has the A5 system-on-chip as the later revision of the iPad 2 and has a 5 MP and 1.2 MP camera, and a Lightning connector.

The iPad Mini's audio processor is the same as the iPhone 5 and iPad 4th generation, which allows Siri and voice dictation. The iPad Mini has a 16GB hard drive that can hold upto 9,000 photos, 3500 songs, 20 hours of video.

It was announced on October 23, 2012 as the fourth major product in the iPad line and the first of the iPad Mini line. It features a reduced screen size of 7.9 inches (20cm), compared to the 9.7 inches (25cm) display on standard iPads at that time. Its internal specifications resemble that of the iPad 2, including its display resolution.

The first generation iPad Mini received positive reviews, with reviewers praising the device's size, design, and availability of applications.
