Description :

Join us for a Cyber Escape ‘Room’ Challenge, kindly brought to us by the staff from Police Cyber Crime Units across the eastern region!

This challenge is a fun, interactive cyber-security exercise to teach you good online security behaviours through a variety of problem-solving tasks. The escape ‘room’ covers important topics, such as Phishing, Data leakage, Creating strong passwords, to name a few.

Can you crack the code and solve the case?

Step into the shoes of a detective and race against time to solve a case.  You will be split into teams and enlisted as detectives into the Met Police to solve a series of cyber-crimes.  The winning team is the one that solves the case first.  Once the challenge is completed, each topic covered is explained and how these affect your cyber security.

Cyber Choices

Once the Escape Room challenge is over, the team will also talk about Cyber Choices, which is a national initiative lead by the National Crime Agency and delivered locally by Cyber Choices Officers. The programme focuses on 'pure' or cyber dependent cyber-crime, which are offences that can be committed only by using a computer, computer networks or other forms of information and communications technology. Examples include:

  • Illegal hacking - gaining unauthorised access to a computer or computer network;
  • Denial of Service attacks - stopping a computer, network or web site from working by overloading them with traffic, including use of booters and stressers against gamers. Also known as DoS or DDoS.
  • Use of malware - making, supplying or obtaining, and subsequent use of, computer viruses, ransomware, remote access trojans or other malicious software.

Cyber Choices was created to help people avoid mistakes by enabling them to make informed choices and so use their cyber skills and interests in a legal and ethical way, which could lead to an interesting and rewarding career.

Come and meet the team for an interactive and interesting afternoon at the museum.
