Ann Moffatt: Reminiscence

I think both Frank [Land] & LEO are splendid ‘national treasures' of the computer industry.

LEO, and Lyons was well ahead of the pack in terms of corporate business and computing. My father worked for Lyons starting as a carpenter in 1946 and retiring as manager in charge of all buildings, both maintenance of existing buildings and establishing new buildings.

I fondly remember the staff sports facilities Sudbury. We lived in Harrow so it was just the next train stop on the line.

My uncle Jimmy was in charge of all engineering at cadby hall. At one stage he was asked to pump as much cooling as he could ’through the wall’. He asked what he was supposed to be cooling and was told it was secret. Of course it was LEO.
