A redesigned model of the Cassette Vision. Released in Japan. The system functions using ROM cartridges. This version was designed as a cost effective model to be more affordable, priced at ¥5,000. Functionally, it is similar to the original Cassette Vision, but doesn't have a volume control dial or an AUX connector, as well as having a new keyboard layout. The console in it's first iteration held 70% of the video games market. The machine itself like the first one, was only a pass through for the game, providing the controls and the video. All the game code and the CPU were held in the cartridge, which made them very expensive. When Nintendo launched the Famicom, and Sega the SG-1000 on the same day, Epoch's market domination evaporated almost immediately, prompting this redesign. it can be likened to what Nintendo did with the Switch years later, a redesign that actually meant a small amount of games could not be played, as the controls were far more basic on the new console, missing the pong style controllers on the original.
