Build Your Own Raspberry Pi Powered Laptop - Friday 29th July 2022
Description : You may have seen them on the internet, or even around the Centre for Computing History, but what are Pi-Tops - and what can we do with them?. The Pi-Top is an entry-level laptop powered by a Raspberry Pi 3. It also features easy access to the Pi's GPIO pins allowing you to hook it up to external electronics projects and do some IoT tinkering. If it's something for homework, learning to code, experimenting with electronics, or building a retro gaming machine, the Pi-Top does all that in one neat form factor.
We appreciate this workshop seems expensive but you will actually be building your very own Raspberry Pi powered laptop for over £70 LESS than you can buy the items included online!! If you already have a Pi 3B or 3B+, you can bring it along and just pay for cost of the Pi-Top kit making even more savings. But it MUST be a Pi 3B or 3B+ and we will be unable to help you with any issues relating directly to your Pi. No previous Raspberry Pi, coding or assembly skills are necessary. The workshop will run from 11am until 1pm. It is aimed at anyone aged 9+. Please note that all under 14's MUST be accompanied by a responsible adult. Although the booking is for a specific time slot, entry to the Centre is permitted all day. The Centre is open from 10am to 5pm. Tea, coffee and snacks will be available from our Pac Lunch Shop. There's plenty of seating for parents. Date: Friday 29th July 2022
Cancellations: We are unable to provide refunds for cancellations in the 14 days prior to the workshop. This is because we will have purchased the kits. However, you are still welcome to collect your kit from the museum during our normal opening hours. Remember - All proceeds go to support our Computing Museum! |
