The Sinclair Microquartz was a digital car clock from 1977, built around the technology of the Black Watch. It was developed to use the parts from the unsuccessful Black Watch, which had been launched a couple of years previously, including the LED display and circuitry. It was more successful technically and commercially, as the case was far more suitable for the circuitry, but today is a still a rare survivor. Using it was slightly precarious if driving, as a button still needed to be pressed to show the time. Unlike most Sinclair products of the time, it could only be bought pre-built. This unit came from Chris Wilding, who worked for Sinclair Radionics and Sinclair Electronics.
