The Sinclair Executive Memory is a four-function calculator with memory function introduced by Sinclair Radionics in 1973. It is powered by the Texas Instruments TMS0132NC processor. It uses eight red LED digit displays and is powered by four button cell batteries. The low power consumption required to run off such a small power source was obtained by pulsing the power supply to the electronics. It cost £24.95. The Executive Memory followed on from the Sinclair Executive calculator, which was the world's first slimline pocket calculator when released in 1972 and cost £79.95 +VAT. It was one third the size of any of its competitors in 1972 and cost half as much. The Sinclair Executive won a Design Council Award for Electronics in 1973. This calculator was donated by Chris Wilding who worked for Sinclair Radionics and Sinclair Electronics, and is likely to be a development model for the range. There is no name/branding on the casing, and it is held together by tape. There are two known cases for the Executive Memory; one with a white case and black keypad, and one with a black case and a gold coloured metal keypad. This example in our collection has the white casing and a gold/bronze coloured keypad.
