Released in 1977, the Epoch TV Game System 10 was Epoch’s second video game machine, following the TV Tennis Electrotennis from 1975, which is said to be the first video game console released in Japan.

It sold for 15,500 yen in 1977 (£32.60 back then), equivalent to 25,450 yen (£169) today.

Designed for two players typically, each player controls two dials for each axis. This meant Tennis can be played by moving the bat both left and right as well as up and down. There is also a mode for doubles, in which 4 players can use the machine with one dial each.

It comes with a gun for light games, which is a branded Mauser C96 which connects via a 6.35mm TRS connector, and is also compatible with the later Epoch Cassette Vision console.

Toshiba also sold this machine in a different case - as the TVG-610.

This would have been competing with some of Nintendo’s early consoles - like the Color TV-Game 6 & Color TV-Game 15.

Shortly afterwards, Epoch released this Epoch TV Game System 10 M2, which simply had a different coloured case and a lower price point.

The M2 is orange with beige dials, whereas the original version released earlier in the year, is cream with white dials.

Our version is boxed with a power supply, aerial box, Mauser gun, and shoulder pad to convert the gun into a rifle.
