Super Mario Bros. 2

This is the Japanese version of the platform adventure, which was more of the same jumping collecting faire, only with the difficulty ramped up enormously. So much so, that Nintendo of America rejected it. The game is rather sought after now, as it was never released on cartridge. For the Western market, a lesser-known game called Doki Don Panic had the characters changed to Mario ones and released as Super Mario Bros 2. That game was enormously different, and bears little resemblance to the Japanese game. It was released in Japan as Super Mario USA, with a warning on the back that it was almost the same game as Doki Don Panic. Super Mario 2 was eventually released as part of the all star collection in the west as Super Mario Bros 2, the lost levels. Side B of the disk contains a Baseball game.
