Apple releases the Macintosh Portable
20th September 1989 On 20th September 1989 Apple unveiled the Macintosh Portable at the Universal Amphitheater in Universal City, California. The Macintosh Portable was Apple's first battery-powered Macintosh. The machine did not sell as well as Apple expected. Weighing in at over 7kg, the device was considered heavy and bulky, and the black and white active-matrix LCD screen was hard to read in low-light. And at $6,500 the Macintosh Portable was not cheap.
