Date : 22nd May 1959Physical Description : 1 item, paper; typescript Transcript : CONFIDENTIAL Minutes of the LEO Policy Meeting Friday 22nd May, 1959. LEO II/5 Reference was made to the discovery that up till now margins were not being applied to the trating of the magnetic tape system. It was agreed that no system could be considered as tested until reasonable margins had been applied. Mr Anthony said that he wished to write as soon as possible to Mr. Glyn of Glyn Mills giving him some idea of the position with regard to the programming trials. Mr Caminer promised to prepare a draft letter before next Friday. LEO II/6 Mr Caminer pointed out that the present arrangements for a ten year maintenance agreement with the Ministry of Pensions appeared to involve us in the risk of having to replace mechanically worn out equipment in the later years of the agreement. It was agreed that for all long term maintenance agreements there should be a proviso to safeguard us from having to replace major parts or worn out mechanical equipment during the later period of the agreement. LEO II/9 Mr. Barnes raised the question of confirming orders for the Hollerith equipment for II/9. To finish the machine in July 1960 we should require the first card feed by the 22nd January, but the spare card feed on II/8 would be available at this time for the testing. It appeared, therefore, that the first card feed at present due in November 1959 would not be needed until at least three months later. The same applied to the rest of the equipment. It was therefore agreed that Mr Kaye should write to Hollerith and postpone delivery of this set and later equipment by another three months. British Transport. Hotels & Catering. Mr Caminer reported that there might be a month's delay in getting this job into operation arising entirely from delays in our being furnished with the detailed requirements. Sales Forecast Mr Caminer reported that the Fords reports were going through the various committees and that the Ilford report was due to be presented to the management next week.
