The Toshiba T1100 Plus was released in 1986 and was advertised as "the smallest and lightest dual disk laptop on the market. For the mobile professional." For the time it was very compact and light, weighing 4.5 kg. Its rechargeable battery had a battery life of up to 8 hours running time. Compared to the T1100 it had two 3.5 inch disk drives, instead of one.
The T1100 Plus was released a year after the T1100, which has since been described by Toshiba as "the world's first mass-market laptop computer". In 2009 the T1100 was named as an IEEE Milestone for its "pioneering contribution to the development of laptop PC".
