Community Energy Display and Retrieval of Information and Calculation

A British Gas Educational Publication

Cedric 2 is a group of three educational programs designed to help schools investigate how their community used energy in the home.

CEDRIC 2's programs offer:
  • Comparison of locally collected data with regional and national statistics
  • Estimates of fuel usage and costs in a sample group of houses, both individually and collectively.
  • A method of calculating the design heat loss of homes and experimenting with the effects of a variety of energy conservation measures.
  • All the programs display information in bot tabular and bar chart formats. Printed copies of results can be produced. CEDRIC 2 is primarily designed for use by school students aged 11-16 years old. It is also suitable for a wide age range as an introduction to good computer techniques in the collation and analysis of data.
There is next to no information available for this software. Unfortunately, our copy does not have the disks, but contains the 'Teacher's Guide', 'Pupil's Guide', and a 'Household Data Form'.

We did however find a paper that refers to Cedric 2.1 extensively:
Case Studies in the use of Computer Software in the Teaching of Energy", J M Nicholls, 1991.
