The A616 is an eight-voice stereo sampler, comprising of a 1U-high rackmount unit and software which will run on any of the Archimedes series of computers. The hardware has two unbalanced audio inputs and outputs as well as a headphone socket and a digital signal output (SPDif), along with MIDI In, Out and Thru ports. The unit is connected to the computer via a ribbon connector and a special Armadillo podule which plugs into the back of the Archimedes.

Sampling frequencies of 44.1kHz (CD) and 48kHz (R-DAT) are offered, and the amount of sampling time available is dependent on the memory of the computer.
