This is the first Mario game to be released for the DS since it was released as a launch title. It is a remake of the Nintendo 64 game Super Mario 64 but some features have been added to the gameplay, storyline and graphics. The game starts with Mario receiving a letter from Peach asking him to come to her castle because she has baked a cake. But this letter is in fact a fake and was supposedly written by Bowser. His minions then capture Mario before he gets to the castle. The user then plays as Yoshi, who attempts to find his friends. This is a notable difference to the original game because characters as well as Mario are playable: Yoshi, Luigi and Wario. Throughout the game, the player has to jump inside paintings in order to collect Power Stars and rescue Mario, Luigi and Wario.
