Resistance 2 follows right on from the original game and sees the hero of the last campaign Nathan Hale now travel from Europe back to the USA, which is now under full scale attack from the Chimera, he joins an elite band called the Sentinels, who, like him have been infected with the Chimeran virus. 

Although it is being kept under control with drugs, the virus is now out of control in his body, and will overwhelm him in a few hours if he does not undergo treatment.

Hale sets about missions throughout the US, refusing to return to the lab for treatment on the trail of an out of control human/chimeran trooper called Daedalus, after eventually stopping a huge armada from completely overwhelming the country Hale, badly injured, is taken back to be treated, only to be told it is too late.

Hale takes on the mission to destroy Daedalus and his fleet with a nuclear bomb.

The game was hailed as a real technical showcase for the PS3, with some bosses the size of skyscrapers, marred slightly by the enemy AI, which concentrates solely on the player, while there are plenty of other troops to attack, the game is considered to be the weakest of the trilogy.
