Age of Empires II is a real-time strategy game, focussed on building your civilizations empire, developing an army, and defeating your enemies. You start in the Dark Age (medieval), and progress through the Feudal age, Castle Age, then Imperial age, upgrading your units and buildings as you go.

This is still a popular online game today, though Microsoft no longer support the servers. You still can play your disc game online using a service like Gameranger.

Alternatively, it is available on Steam in an HD edition, where three additional expansion packs (African Kingdoms, The Forgotten, and Rise of the Rajas) have been released over 10 years after the game launched.
