While perfectly playable, the Wii U version does suffer from performance problems, the frame rate especially when on the high seas the frame rate drops considerably.

Ubisoft were very supportive of the Wii U for the first couple of years, making most of their big franchises available to it.

This special edition had an unlockable level and costume.
