The 7th Guest is an interactive movie puzzle adventure game, a horror story told by the player, as an amnesiac. It is played by meandering through a mansion, solving logic puzzles and watching videos that explain the story. Henry Stauf is a menace, who taunts the player with clues then mocks the player on failure or success. The game received a great amount of press attention for making live action video gameplay, for large amount of pre-rendered 3D graphics, and for adult content. It was developed by Trilobyte and released by Virgin Interactive Entertainment in April 1993 only on CD-ROM. In was very successful, with over 2 million sold, and is regarded as a killer app that accelerated the sales of CD-ROM drives.
