'This manual is intended to familiarize the user with the SPC-16 to I/O device interface. The manual has been sectionalized as much as possible to facilitate updating. This section contains general interface information, option descriptions, and I/O mechanical and electrical considerations. Section 2 of this manual contains interface information pertaining to the programmed I/O interface.  Section 3 contains information pertaining to the direct memory access I/O interface. Section 4 contains interrupt interface information.

It is recommended that the user be thoroughly familiar with the information presented in the SPC-16 Reference and Programming Operations manual prior to using the information contained in this manual.'
