The Minimax II was a complete diskette-based video computer system built around a 6502 microprocessor running at 2MHz. The system had 106kB of semiconductor memory, of which 45kB was available as program RAM. The remainder of the memory was split between a resident monitor with TINY assembler, ROM-based MDOS operating system, a Microsoft Basic interpreter, a basic Fifth interpreter and I/O registers. The disc drive used was the Computhink PET compatible twin mini floppy drive, available with either 5-inch or 8-inch floppy diskettes. The diskettes are double-sided, double-density, giving a formatted storage capacity of 400kB for a 5-inch diskette and 1.2MB. The Minimax II is also known as the ACT Series 800.
