Le Modem was manufactured by Watford Electronics and connects a BBC Micro computer to the telephone network. An included ROM controls the modem (via the 1MHz port) and provides terminal emulation, viewdata, and message editing programs. The modem operates at 300 baud. Despite having a series 600 modular jack and the manual recommending it be connected to a British Telecom wall socket, a sticker on the bottom of the modem declares that it is "PROHIBITED from direct or indirect connection to any telecommunicatiopn system run by British Telecom. Action may be taken against anyone so connecting this apparatus."
