This revised document supercedes Guidelines for VAXcluster System Configurations (Order number EK-VAXCS-CG-001).

In the DIGITAL Computing Environment, there are several ways to increase the capabilities of a VAX/VMS computer system beyond those of a single processor. you can generally use any of the following in any combination:

A multiprocessor CPU
A multi-COU VAXcluster System
A network of CPUs or of VAXcluster Systems

This document briefly compares these and provides information on sizing and configuring VAXcluster Systems.
