Director 2000 Programmable Controller

Director 2000 - Programmable Controller

The Director 2000 builds upon the strengths of the Director 1000. It offers the unique benefits of dual flow chart, ladder diagram programming, electrically alterable store memory, and also provides double the program capacity. The Advanced Functions are standard.

Appearance
The outward visual aspects of the Director 2000 are almost identical to those of the Director 1000. The only change on the Director 2000 is the introduction of an illuminated point to the left of the message number display block, and a new label on the right hand side of the control unit face.
Programming Philosophy
The Director 2000 is programmed in "pages" of 1000 messages each. Messages 000-999 are designated "page 0" and messages 1000-1999 are designated "page 1" When switched on, the Director 2000 is automatically in page 0, and will enter page 1 only when instructed to do so by a "page change" instruction. Operating in page 1, the page 1 indicator is illuminated - this is the red spot immediately to the left of the message number display.

Advanced Functions
All Director 2000 message versions are supplied with the "Advanced Functions" as standard. These provide 11 new functions. Commands 30 and 31 are concerned with the 2000 message page change system. The remainder include BCD input and output, arithmetic (+—x-s-=), minus 1 and compare. Full details are on Data Sheet 12.
Other Facilities
No change is made to the other facilities of the Director: 256 output channels, 256 input channels, 256 internal memories, 32 counters, 16 ten millisecond timers and 16 one second timers remain, as before. Current production models of both the Director 1000 and Director 2000 have improved security on the FIX button. This must now be pressed three times before the system starts to transfer the contents of its RAM memory to permanent memory in the store memory capsule.
