Donkey Kong Country is a 1994 platformer game from RARE. 
It was lauded at the time for its graphics which used rendered 3D models converted into sprites.  The game featured Donkey Kong on a quest to rescue his stolen bananas.  On his journey, he is aided by Diddy Kong and a series of animal companions used to navigate special areas or earn additional lives in the bonus stages.

It spawned two sequels on the SNES, a follow-up game on the N64, and has made appearances on the Wii, WiiU, SNES Mini and the Switch Online Service.
