Ultimate Play The Game released their first 48k game late in 1983, and it is a vastly expanded game over Jetpac. The wonderfully colourful graphics were an immediate draw with Crash magazine stating they were better than the arcade machines of the day. Jetman must guide his Rover across the planet surface, and while he is in there, he is invincible, trouble is he has to leave to bridge gaps in the moon terrain, load bombs onto the back of the rover, and trundle his way to the Alien base which is counting down to launching two missiles, one to destroy Earth, and one to take out the rover. Once the base is reached, Jetman must fly over the base and release his bomb, then the nightmare starts all over again. Why a nightmare, because the game also has an abundance of enemies flying around trying to take Jetman from the skies, if he crashes into one, it is a life lost, some time taken from the timer, and he tends to cause much damage to the lunar surface, which must be repaired. In short, Lunar Jetman is a tremendously difficult game. Jetman would appear in one more title, Solar Jetman, though it was only on the Nintendo NES, the Spectrum code is lost, but the Commodore 64 version has been found. Some regard the later Cyberun as a Jetman style game, although similar in style, and difficulty, it does not star Jetman.
